• Ebola Campaign for West Africa

As the ebola virus disease risks becoming endemic to parts of West Africa, the need for effective treatment and preventative practices are growing. Multiple pharmaceutical companies have joined the race to find a vaccine. Yet fast-tracking testing on humans, while simultaneously manufacturing stocks, poses efficacy concerns and commercial risk. There is no guarantee for success. At best, a usable form of immunisation will probably not be found until the virus is fairly well-entrenched in the affected population. Thus the need for preventative intervention is greatly needed.

The Ebola campaign for West Africa is a joint strategic partnership between New Generation for Africa Foundation and the Miss Universe Ghana women empowerment program that aims to provide effective early preventative intervention for Ebola through education, delivering expert training, and minimizing the spread of incorrect information to vulnerable women and children in the effected areas.

Abena Appiah, Miss Universe Ghana 2014, is a Ghanaian born model, singer/songwriter, guitarist, actress and philanthropist. Abena currently studies Fashion at Radford University College.
