Actor, philanthropist and entrepreneur John Dumelo’s Halloween Masquerade Party was held at the celebrity hotspot Mataheko Lounge in Queens, NY this past Saturday in honor of The John Dumelo Foundation, whose mission is to ensure that the children of rural Africa have the basic tools necessary for educational success. John’s fans came out in droves to enjoy the evening’s festivities and to mingle with him as this was his way to simply say “thank you” to his fans for supporting not just his career but for also supporting his humanitarian efforts.

Saturday night’s event not only raised much need funds for The John Dumelo Foundation but some of John’s supporters also donated school supplies such as notebooks, backpacks, pencils, pens and other basic school supplies for the children of rural Africa. John, being the quintessential humanitarian has also structured his clothing line in such a way that with each T-shirt or Hoodie that is sold, another will be given to an under privileged child in Africa. Most people are born into families that can provide these basic needs so they take it for granted that the same rings true for all, but John understands that it’s all about securing our future. “It’s not the fault of these children that they were born into such circumstances. Education is the key and with good basic tools we position these children to become presidents, scientists, actors, doctors and law makers.” John believes and urges us to all spend as little as 5-10 dollars for these forgotten children because this small amount will motivate a child to learn more and accomplish his or her dreams.

Many of the guests at the event were surprised at the level of humility, professionalism and kindness that John exhibited as he effortlessly danced with guests, signed autographs and smiled for all the cameras that flashed in his face. Musician Jay Ghartey, Actress/Model Naa Dene, Model Monique Adwoa, Media Specialist Benita Bortey and Restaurateur Patrick Anim-Addo (who so generously donated the use of the lounge for the event), all came out to support John in this philanthropic endeavor. John Dumelo once again has shown us that there is more him than meets the eye – behind all that male bravado is a heart of gold.
